When the administrators of Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama began the process of adding a new recreation facility to the campus, it is unlikely they could have envisioned the unique end result they received. But thanks to the creative team at HOK Architects (formerly 360 Architects) and help from their own students, they can proudly say they have a one-of-a-kind facility – a 240,000 square-foot fitness complex featuring a winding, elevated, one-third of a mile indoor jogging/walking track complete with a corkscrew component that is the first of its kind in North America.

03 Renovation

Carole Hoefener Center.

In partnership with Steph & Ayesha Curry, Stephen’s foundation, Eat.Learn.Play., Under Armour, Chase Bank, and others, we renovated the Carole Hoefener Center, a 40,000 square foot facility owned by the Charlotte Housing Authority, in advance of the 2019 NBA All-Star Game. As a legacy project for the Curry Family and Eat.Learn.Play., the renovation featured a new lobby, new locker rooms, updated conference rooms and classrooms, the development of a first-class catering kitchen, and the complete renovation and naming of “Curry Court”. The court was upgraded from a plastic, snap-together court to a Connor Sports Flooring maple court with a custom logo, new Under Armour scoreboards, custom murals, and more.
